the duvet diaries – the sanderson hotel

20th February 2015
Last week after frantically trying to rearrange my diary I realised very last minute that I would need to have a mini “Stay-cation” in London, hopefully one day I will actually grasp the concept of using my over priced Louis Vuitton diary for anything other that a photography prop. I’d managed to double book myself about 4 times over so after some seriously impressive time management I organised it all and somehow managed to nab a night at The Sanderson Hotel on Berner St. Having only been there previously for cocktails with my brother and our partners, I was really excited to see what the rooms had to offer, because quite frankly I’d have been in my element sleeping on the Lips sofa so I figured the rooms simply had to impress. Upon arrival we were greeted by the concierge, who very quickly became my favourite members of staff at the hotel (honestly all of them were so much fun) their enthusiasm was intoxicating with one of them insisting he gave me a tour of all the “Guests Only” areas to the hotel and I could tell he took great pride in our “ooohs” at the Galactic decor of the elevators and our Ahh’s as we opened the door to our beautiful, crisp bright room. The room consisted of a beautiful ornate silver bed in the centre, perfectly made with soft white bedsheets a table, chair and window seat situated in front of the huge ceiling high windows and huge glass panel separating the dressing room and bathroom from the heart of the room. In the dressing area there was a gorgeous marble mounted basin with all the Malin + Goetz products you could wish for.

Opposite were rails and shelves for us to unpack and decrease our clothes from the journey down, hung on the rails were big fluffy bath robes ready for a trip to the famous spa facilities (which unfortunately due to those pesky time management skills didn’t happen, next time perhaps).

As I returned from my evening at Sketch with some of my favourite blogging babes and the wonderful team at Lipsy, despite having a 3 course meal of the most delicious kind. Ali and I decided to have a little cheat ordering from The Sanderson room service menu, Cookies & milk being the perfect choice for a 1am cheat meal, naturally.

We woke the next morning to the early morning light bursting through the blinds, feeling like I’d slept for 1000 years. Those sheets felt like silk and the mattress, like a fluffy white cloud. I certainly didn’t want to leave, we still needed an early morning Spa visit, Mad Hatters Afternoon Tea and late night cocktails in the Purple Bar.

Oh what I would give for one more night (or six) in that big, beautiful white bed.
