something for the weekend at malmaison, oxford

26th August 2014
This weekend, Ali and I enjoyed some well deserved time off and headed to the stunning and historic city of Oxford. We booked ourselves into the incredible Malmaison Hotel right in the heart of Oxford, which not too long ago was a prison housing some of the country’s most notorious criminals . The hotel has maintained a considerable amount of original features which ensures you fully experience the history within the walls without compromising on the ambiance of a top luxury hotel. You wouldn’t usually think going to prison as a romantic experience but I promise you we had the most wonderful time. On arrival we sat down in the brasserie for afternoon tea, something which I have wanted to do since I was a little girl but never had the opportunity to do so. You should have seen me that morning, I was exactly like a little girl again! The sandwiches and cakes were a dream, accompanied by clotted cream, jam and scones, the perfect fuel to embark on a walk around the city centre. I’m a sucker for beautiful historic architecture from old tudor style shop fronts to grand towering cathedrals, Oxford is bursting with them all complimented by floral accents adorning windows and hidden backstreets which transport you to different periods of the city. Needless to say I’m in love and can’t wait to return! Have you visted Oxford? I’d love to know of more gorgeous and hidden places to discover there.
