It really is a beautiful thing to be comfortable, not only in your skin but in your sense of style too. For years I have battled with the fact that I have a rather “page 3” look to my face, It was pointed out when I previously tried (and failed) at modelling many years ago and I’ve been very conscious of it ever since.
This contrast between how I look and my actual taste, who I relate to and what I find appealing in others caused me considerable confusion. One minute I felt like dressing one way and the next I’d feel like dressing another. And as I walk the very thin line of mid twenties I finally feel like my style has evolved into a true reflection of who I am. The “glamour” that I tried so hard to hide now surfaces through a pair of perfectly fitting jeans or silhouette skimming dress. My Italian heritage now worn through painstakingly selected high end accessories and finally my love of quality British fashion, inherited from my Grandma, is now Channeled through the likes of Reiss, Whistles and Hobbs.
With so many styles, opinions and up turned noses it feels nice to finally stick my two fingers up at it all, with confidence. It only look 26 years and a last minute trip to Italy for me to realise this but hey, sometimes I like to take the scenic route.
