Be it a skin coloured bra that sits discretely under a white linen shirt or a flesh coloured thong disguised beneath a sheer chiffon dress, for me nude underwear comes into its own in spring and saves any awkward conversations that start with “you know your pants are on show, right?!”
Let’s not lie ladies, we’ve all been there.
With that in mind, given that spring is just around the corner, I thought I’d put together a list of my favourite nude underwear brands – the ones that challenge the assumption that nude underwear equates to unsexy – so that you can embrace the upcoming season in all its glory and leave the house in full confidence that your undies aren’t on show!
From the lacy and luxurious to the comfy and practical, it’s time to give nude underwear the credit it deserves…
Whether you’re looking for thongs or briefs or shorts or bras, BOODY are my go-to when I want to combine style with comfort and tend to be my day-to-day underwear brand of choice.
Their nude stretchy bras and nude g-strings are my go-to for shoot days because I know that they won’t be picked up by the camera’s flash too!
Not only are they made with bamboo yarn (so are extra soft) but if you read my post on spring cleaning, you’ll know that I love ordered underwear drawers (!) so the flat that they can be folded in such a way that all of the BOODY logos line up in a straight row means that they get extra brownie points in that department too!
If you’re wanting to avoid any awkward nude granny pants moments a la Bridget Jones but are still looking for something skin toned to sit discretely beneath your outfit of choice, Intimissimi’s nude underwear range can be taken from day to date night and always make me feel confident, hidden or out in full display!
Their Super Push-Up Bra and Brazilian brief combo is my go-to for any outfit that’s light and low cut. They have a range of gorgeous matching lace sets in various skin coloured tones as well.
For me, a flesh toned slip is a must for spring – especially if you’re planning on wearing a floaty white skirt or dress in the coming months. And for me, M&S lead the way in this category. Not only do they come in inclusive skin tones but they also come in a variety of lengths too. I have this waist slip in a few different lengths (in shade ‘opaline’ for those of you that are interested) but they also do full body slips if that’s what you’re after!
If you’re looking for nude underwear that can be disguised under anything tight, Intimissimi’s ‘Invisible Touch’ range do no wrong. I have a selection of their seamless knickers and thongs in soft beige but they come in a variety of shades and shapes, so go wild!
Finally, for the outfits that require more control, there’s a reason why Spanx are the leaders of the pack. With that in mind, if I’ve got a black tie event and need holding in, the ‘Thinstinct’ leggings come out to play. If my experience is anything to go by, they feel like a tight pair of nude cycling shorts (!) but a flattering, figure hugging, tight pair of nude cycling shorts nonetheless.
