my top 5 festive candles…

28th November 2023
'Tis the season...

There’s nothing quite like that first scent of Christmas. As fragrant orange, sweet cinnamon and clove fill the air, I’m instantly transported to the most magical memories of Christmas growing up and the excitement that comes hand-in-hand with this time of year.

As soon as November arrives therefore, I start burning wintry candles throughout our home to recreate the festive magic that fills me with so much joy. Not to mention, sets the scene for the festivities that will follow in the coming weeks.

With that in mind, I’ve rounded up my top five festive candles below, should you be looking to stock up ahead of Christmas.

Those of you who’ve followed me for years will recall a few classics that I return to each year. With some new entries that are fast becoming favourites though, there should be something for everyone below…

Festive candle no. 1 – Nest’s ‘Birchwood Pine’

If you’re looking for a seasonal candle that works for both pre and post Christmas, this candle from Nest New York smells like a winter forest and is the perfect backdrop for the build up to the Big Day and beyond. I love that it smells fresh and invigorating yet still has that cosy warmth that I crave at this time of year. I can already tell that it’ll make a wonderful candle in January for that reason, too.

Festive candle no. 2 – Holland Cooper’s ‘Noel’

I’ve been burning this non-stop since it arrived a few days ago and it’s fast becoming my favourite festive scent. Though it’s on the pricier side, admittedly, if you’re looking to invest in one candle that’ll last for hours on end, it’s worth it because it transforms your home into a yuletide oasis within minutes.

Festive candle no. 3 – The White Company’s ‘Winter’

It wouldn’t be Christmas without The White Company’s ‘Winter’ fragrance featuring somewhere, right? Combining notes of cinnamon, clove and orange, it’s the classic festive fragrance that I’ll never tire of. I tend to opt for their three wick candle and spritz their ‘Winter’ room spray in and around our trees.

Festive candle no. 4 – Beauty Pie’s ‘Fir Balsam, Sandalwood and Sweet Orange’

Remember the festive candle that I stockpiled last year!? It’s back and it smells just as good this year as it did then. Perfect for those of you who, like me, love the smell of Christmas trees but opt for artificial trees each Christmas for practical reasons, this will leave your house smelling like freshly chopped Christmas trees in no time…

Festive candle no. 5 – St Eval’s ‘Inspiritus’

And finally, this budget friendly candle from the Cornish brand, St Eval, is a warming blend of spices, aromatic cinnamon, nutmeg and cloves on a woody sandalwood base that’ll leave you feeling festive in no time.
