This morning I awoke with the sunshine as normal, I opened up my various social media apps and sifted through the normal status’ and tweets regarding “The Monday Blues”. I too once wished the days away in anticipation of the weekend, I would already dread waking on Monday even when it was only Saturday and then post depressing status’ as soon as I sat at my desk. This was no way to live. I wanted to be excited every morning, I wanted to jump from my bed with the same enthusiasm as I did at Sunrise on a Saturday morning. I wanted to bottle it up and drink a little every day so that I never experienced those blues again. I began by reading online, endless websites on tips to build motivation for every day life. It became like a project for me, it certainly didn’t happen over night. And only now do I look back and see that all was not in vain. So I have put together some tips to help those wanting to build motivation and excitement for Monday mornings, and every morning for that matter. Lists Make lists for everything, every day, every project, every week. Make lists of what you’re excited about and build anticipation for each day by keeping track of whats exactly happening in your life.
Lists
Make lists for everything, every day, every project, every week. Make lists of what you’re excited about and build anticipation for each day by keeping track of whats exactly happening in your life. This is also a really great way to ensure that you are never caught out having forgotten something important. I have a pretty little note book that I take everywhere with me so that I can jot everything down. Also a great idea for bloggers when having a creative brain fart.
Plan
As well as listing whats going on in your life, plan it too. Make plans, make exciting plans, make a work plan, a lifestyle plan or even a health plan. Plan for the future and set goals that scare you to death. That old cliche saying about if your dreams don’t scare you they aren’t big enough, really is true. I love planning my weeks and then planning my days down to the minute so they every moment is full with steps towards my goals. That doesn’t necessarily mean I’m constantly doing something though, If I need to take 5 minutes, 5 hours or an entire day out to recoup my thoughts and have some down time, that really is all part of the plan.
Sleep Well, Wake Early
I’ve mentioned many a times how I used to stay up reading until the early hours of the morning and then sleep the days away. I have never lacked so much drive and motivation as I did at that time in my life. I couldn’t see a way out and this vicious cycle of staying up late, sleeping all day continued for a long time. In fact it carried on for too long. But responsibilities and life is able to kick you pretty hard up the butt sometimes to ensure you sort your life out and get it back on track. And although I sometimes let my creative juices flow too far into the night, I never let that effect the time I rise.
Waking early after a night of pure sleep means you have an entire day a head of you to make the most of your plan with.
Dress Well
This might well be one for the fashion bloggers amongst us but a well executed outfit, preferably with something new and exciting to wear, always has me jumping out of bed in the morning with a smile on my face. Sometimes my outfits can even fall under the Planning stage and I can often find them planned well in advance of my days out or just at home. It’s like wearing a pair of heels, they always make you walk with a little more sass and a good outfit is just as effective.
Me Time
As mentioned, taking time out for yourself to relax and recoup is just as important as seizing the day. A great way to incorporate some self indulgence is to join a gym with a spa. Once a week as a reward for working out I’ll add a hour or two onto my planned workout slot and head to the steam room for a little mind & body MOT.
Be Positive
Changing your thought process is the hardest part. It takes a lot of brain training and conscious thinking and again most certainly will not happen over night. I’m still learning every day and am forever on the look out for new methods to improving my outlook every day but as always start with the basics and life will always be positive.
