I love to travel. Although I might be a bit shakey when I am up in the air, for me the fun is in the preparation, the process and the planning. From the moment I wake on the day of departure I like everything to run as smoothly and efficiently as possible, from mastering Airport security, maximising on a comfortable yet presentable outfit to well and truly nailing your Airport shopping experience with no one making this easier or more enjoyable than Heathrow Airport.
Having travelled the world a fair bit over the last few years I’ve put together some of my fail safe hacks for making the travelling process as care-free and enjoyable as possible to leave as much time for getting spendy using Heathrow Personal Shopping, as possible.
One thing to truly make my Heathrow experience run smoothly, pardon the pun, has been investing in a high quality set of cases from TUMI. It’s only really something you can make sense of once you have tried it but high quality suitcases changed the game for me. There are no more aching arms from the friction in the wheels of my old cheap suitcases. My TUMI glides and twirls as if it were floating through the crowds within the terminal.
I had picked up my Large TUMI case recently but had been on the hunt for the perfect cabin sized edition. Before recent trips when flying from Heathrow, I let the accredited Stylists from the Heathrow Personal Shopping lounge know exactly what I’m looking for before I arrive so that I can make the most of the Duty Free savings on offer whilst making the most of my time there.
Style and comfort, it’s not too much to ask is it? But finding Airport appropriate attire whereby you can board in comfort without compromising on style, can sometimes be difficult. I try to stick to a muted colour pallette and by muted I generally mean black, you simply can’t go wrong. I opt for comfortable yet well cut stretch fabrics when it comes to my denim and cashmere jumpers are always at the top of the list for warmth and softness during the festive season. A blazer adds sophistication whilst easily being slipped off to pass through security. To finish I opt for comfortable slip on boots, because laces are a no-no for efficiency when passing through security and a cross body bag to leave my hands free for all the shopping I’ll be doing.
The biggest revelation to happen to my Airport shopping experience was the Heathrow Personal Shopping lounge. A complimentary personal shopping experience with an accredited Stylist within the stunning lounge inside the Terminal. The service is totally bespoke for each individual passenger within the luxurious and calming escape of the lounge, it seemed almost too good to be true that the entire experience is completely free. Meaning your time and money goes so much further within the terminal.
The Personal Shopping experience at Heathrow unites all of the stores within the Airport from Bulgari to Harrods enabling you to pre-reserve the “It” bag of the season and pick up on your way through, without the hassle.
But if you don’t want to lug your duty free purchases half way across the world with you Heathrow Shopping Services are there to make, what is already a wonderful experience, even more so with their Shop & Collect offer, UK Passengers are able to shop the many luxury brands within the terminals without the hassle of lugging them on their flight with them, instead picking up their purchases on their return to the UK from the Arrivals haul. But if that isn’t quite easy enough, Heathrow will also Home Deliver your purchases for Passengers within the UK.
Our experience of the lounge was one of utter relaxation, indulgence and of course efficiency. As we arrived Ali was escorted to where his hand picked items were waiting, following an earlier consultation and I was taken through to a room filled with pink velvet sofas, gilded furniture and the most elegant of vanity tables.
Valentino Rockstuds, Bulgari handbags and jewels and Burberry Fragrances filled the room that I would be playing dress up in for the next hour or so. Colour ways, style variations and last minute Gift ideas were delivered whilst I sipped Champagne from the comfort of the sofa and no request was too much for the attentive Stylists. Free? Complimentary? Those words seemed almost impossible to associate with such a bespoke and personalised experience, but it most certainly was.
Heathrow have changed the game when it comes to efficient and personalised shopping within the terminals and I will most certainly be making the most of this complimentary service on future adventures.
