5 things i’m thankful for this thanksgiving…

23th November 2023
Happy Thanksgiving!

Though I appreciate that Thanksgiving is an American holiday, I’ve always loved the idea of using it as an excuse to check in and remind myself of all the things that I’m grateful for each year. With that in mind, this year, I thought that I’d share them with you here in the hope that it might encourage you to do the same.

Obviously, my health and the health of loved ones goes without saying – in today’s world, more so than ever. So too does my gratitude for you being here! (I know everyone says it but I genuinely am so grateful for how wonderful you all are!) With that in mind, along with those two things, here’s what I’m currently thankful for…

1. The first glimpse of winter sunshine…

In late November, the first hint of winter sunshine appears and brings a sense of peace to my mornings for the forseeable few months that you can’t quite find at any other time of year. There’s a crispness to the light that grounds me as I sip my coffee by the window each morning. It’s calming and bright and leaves me feeling bright eyed and bushy tailed, ready to start my day as a result!

2. The festivities at this time of year…

I’m never not grateful for the sense of hope that hangs in the air at this time of year because the festivities have arrived en masse, sprinkling an extra serving of magic in and around our daily routines. Be it the excitement I feel when I light each festive candle, the PURE JOY that comes with settling down for a Christmas-inspired roast or the simple moments of magic found in walking down decorated high streets and seeing shop fronts adorned with decorations and lights, I’m so grateful that I’ve managed to recapture the magic I once felt as a child and am determined to make the most of the festivities this year.

3. My handy husband who helps to bring my Christmas dreams to life…

Whether it’s going out of his way to source an antique pot for one of our Christmas trees because he knows how much I’ve wanted one or spending all afternoon embracing his inner electrician and rigging up the Christmas lights outdoors, my husband is handy all year round, admittedly, but I am more grateful than ever at this time of year. Why? Because he never fails to bring my Christmas wishes to life! To say that I’m grateful that he’s a handy man at heart would be an understatement.

4. Morning cuddles with Lumi in bed…

Porter and Berkeley are never not in the mood for cuddles which is another thing that I’m so grateful for. Given that Lumi is Princess Independent though, the fact that she never fails to jump on our bed during the night which allows me to wake up to Lumi cuddles each morning fills my heart with pure joy. It is truly the most relaxing way to wake up each day. There’s not a day that goes by where I’m not grateful that she’s ours.

5. Discovering L’Glutamine…

And finally, perhaps not quite as profound as the others (!) but right now, I’m very grateful for L’Glutamine too!! I’ve been taking it for the past few weeks and it’s drastically improved my quality of life since. I’d often have an upset stomach (almost every day for as long as I can remember) but since I started taking it that’s completely stopped. I no longer get bloated and I can eat foods I couldn’t eat before. This isn’t an ad by the way – it’s just that good!

I’d love to hear if and how you celebrate Thanksgiving and what you’re thankful for this year!
