you learn something new every day.

4th June 2015
I love a good story, I always have done. I can read a good book in a day but ask me to revise for an exam and you’ve got no hope. I need to be stimulated and kept on the edge of my seat when I sit down with a book. I guess the same can be said for the blogs I read, I like for there to be a story, a growth and a journey (I love a good journey). I like to see a progression and I also like to think there has been one here on LydiaEliseMillen.com too. I remember when I had my blog redesigned, I frantically emailed my developer asking her to add in an archive because I wanted everyone, regular readers or flying visits, to be able to flip back and see where it all started. To know that I started somewhere too. When I look back I’m painfully insecure and I haven’t a clue where I’m going with this but I just kept going. The most fun thing that I always enjoy looking back on is my photography. I remember reading Olivia’s, Audrey’s and (for those who remember) Morven’s blogs, wondering and wishing to be able to take images as beautiful as theirs. OK so I still spend hours wishing and wondering how the hell they do it but it ignited a motivation within me to do my best to learn how to use a camera. Every day I learn something new, like on this occasion I learnt that actually, shooting in direct sunlight can be pretty dramatic and give your pictures some depth, after I’d spent the last 2 years searching out every shaded nook an cranny where I live. I love the way the light skims the rouches of this denim dress […]

One of the most valuable things I’ve learnt from blogging is to keep learning, every day. The blogosphere evolves and changes at such speed I feel constantly on my toes, constantly absorbing information and constantly growing. I never knew learning could be so much fun (don’t tell my teachers I said that)!

FYI this dress is now 40% off!

Hair @imy_hair for @greatlengthsuk
I’m in my golden era. Ad having nurtured my hair back to health with professional haircare, supplements and hair oiling I knew I didn’t have enough time to grow my hair back for Summer so the wonderful team at @greatlengthsuk enlisted @imy_hair to transform me into my Summer style for the next few months. For those that don’t know Great Lengths has always been my extension brand of choice, about 15 years ago I had them for 2.5years to help me grow my hair back after I experimented a little too much with my style. My hair grew back healthy and strong and I didn’t have to wish the time away as the extensions gave me the extra few inches I needed without damaging my hair. I will have these removed at the end of the summer to continue to grow my hair back with regular Diamond cuts.
