nature inspired beauty brands that i’m loving right now…

4th March 2022
As I mentioned in my opening to chapter three, I’ve found myself gravitating towards nature in recent months – The perfect antidote to the fast-paced demands of modern life and a reliable source of calm amongst the chaos.

Be it the sunshine coloured daffodils that have popped up out of nowhere in recent days or the purple blanket of Dalmatian bellflower that appeared on our garden wall overnight, there’s something so effortless about nature’s comeback in spring. So much so that I’m forever inspired when I look out the window at present, with even the subtlest signs of spring filling me with joy.

It can’t come as a surprise therefore, that along with floral prints and spring-inspired dresses, I’m gravitating towards nature-inspired beauty brands in my dressing room too.

My favourite of which, I’ve jotted down below…

AURELIA LONDON

My love affair with Aurelia London started with their pillow mist. One spritz led to two. Two spritz led to five and before you knew it, I’d ordered the bulk majority of their range! Though their branding doesn’t scream ‘nature-inspired’ (it screams ‘order me now, I’m stunning!’ instead), their unique use of natural botanicals – all sustainably sourced I must add – results in scent combinations that transport you to outside places far and wide. Right now, I’m borderline obsessed with their ‘Balance and Glow’ day oil and their ‘Restorative Cream’ body wash is the perfect way to end a busy day. MEDEAU

Medeau’s debut fragrance smells like fresh air in spring and leaves you dreaming about running through meadows, wind in your hair, like the leading lady that you are! It’s clean, non-toxic ingredients mean that it’s good for the planet and you know I’m a stickler for stunning packaging so the floral illustrations on the box make it that bit more special. I’ve only just realised that their name sounds like ‘Meadow’ too… bloody genius!

I catch on quickly, I know!

BERTIOLI BY THYME

Heavily inspired by the woodland and English garden that makes up the rolling hills of The Cotswolds, Bertioli was the first brand that came to mind when I was putting this list together. Filled with the healing botanical essential oils of water mint, thyme, and English apple blossom, their hand wash and body lotion have an unrivalled freshness about them and their breathing balm – though not technically beauty related – does exactly what it says on the tin. Encouraging us to pause and take a moment to breathe, it’s designed to help switch off our automatic stress response and take a little ‘thyme’ out for ourselves.

AERIN

No brand has mastered floral fragrance quite like Aerin… And their Fleur De Peony eau de parfum is no exception. Not only does their botanic packaging win me over every time (whoever does their designs needs to launch a wallpaper/fabric brand asap!) but there’s something so delicate and feminine about this particular fragrance that it will be my signature scent for spring, I’m sure.

EVOLVE TOGETHER

Whilst I’ve only recently discovered Evolve Together, caring for the planet and ensuring that nature continues to thrive is at the heart of the brand and the simplicity of their products won me over in an instant. I’ve been using their ‘Tulum’ natural deodorant for a few days now and its combination of lemon, patchouli, sage, and cedarwood remind me of woodland strolls – the perfect prelude for my morning walk with the boys. As a deodorant, I can confirm that scent aside, it also (importantly) does the job.

And finally….

NEALS YARD

I mentioned my love for Neal’s Yard in this post from a few weeks back and stand by my obsession with their au natural shower gels to this day. There’s nothing better than starting my day off with an invigorating shower so the scent combinations that they use – all derived from ethically sourced herbs, botanicals and essential oils – never fail to lift my spirits and encourage me to start the day with a positive mind. They’re an oldie but a goodie as far as I’m concerned. I can’t imagine a nature-inspired list where I don’t sing their praises!

Everything feels a little more optimistic as March begins don’t you think?
It’s the start of spring in my book Evergreen shortly followed by the spring equinox so there’s ample time to prepare, nest and refresh.
The light returns, hello March 🌱
There’s no such thing as bad weather, only bad weather attire 💧
A little indulgence from my comfort of my own home thanks to INCREDIBLE @kmp_skin and @freshbeauty Ad
for the launch of the new Lotus Youth Preserve Resurfacing dream serum which is a gentle AHA serum with prickly pear flower extract said to boost radiance and it was so lovely to be treated to a first trial to get a very first impression of the serum thanks to KMP and her magic hands. I’ve literally never had a facial like it!
The plum tree in our garden is always the first blossom to erupt at this time of year narrowly beating the much loved aubretia that grows in abundance through our old garden wall. As soon as is acceptable I’m out with my secateurs ready to fill vases and prickly jars with its delicate confetti like blooms 🌸
