life & style diaries | march 18th

18th March 2020

Monday was the first day of 2020 that it felt like Spring was on the way. I went for a morning walk and flew every window and door open in the kitchen to refresh the air, in reality its probably still a few degrees too cold but it felt good and it lifted my spirits a lot so all was not lost except for a little heating.

With the warmer, wetter weather, the flowers have come. Our front garden is in bloom and the garden wall is slowly but surely  being invaded by lots of tiny lilac flowers. Every day I sit at my kitchen table to write, I notice more and more of them and it feels as if they are rewarding me each day for actually sitting down to write in the first place, as I so often put it off in favour of my mounting workload.

This dress reminds me of them and gives me hope for the weather to come. Perhaps it was a little optimistic to dust something so Spring like off from my wardrobe but I’m really just trying to channel whatever good vibes I can at this time. I’m trying to wear pieces that make me feel good despite everything thats currently going on because it’s those little moments of happiness that make it all a little easier to navigate, like acknowledging the small wins of every day life be it a mile stone in your career regardless of the testing time your small business currently faces, having a little more time to read those books you’ve been putting off since Christmas despite knowing you had a mound of paper work on your desk when you last left the office. Wherever you are able to take solace and happiness in the day to day right now, I hope you do because it just takes the edge off a little, y’know?

So with my second little style diary post which I’m enjoying ever so much right now, I hoped we could start a little discussion in the comments about the small wins, gains, moments of happiness we have all been experiencing recently despite everything right now. I’ll go first! Yesterday the first of my friends babies entered the world at the speed of light and I am beyond excited to meet her. I also hit 850K followers on instagram which is maybe a more self indulgent small win, but as a small business myself with all work cancelled and postponed it was a welcomed little pat on the back from my followers that we are still on this journey together.

So tell me, what is bringing you happiness? Solace or small moments of joy right now? Let me know in the comments below, I cant wait to read them and share in this happiness with you!

Ad No-one does old Hollywood glamour quite like @santinni_london and this majestic wool coat demonstrates why. From its luxurious faux fur collar and cuffs that keep the frosty chill at bay, to its exquisite jeweller-made buttons (that I fell in love with and are available as earrings too) for me, it’s the perfect piece to wrap up in throughout winter.
