i am skinny, therefore i do not feel….

17th November 2011
Well well well, where the hell have I been eh?? I had every intension of outfit posting yesterday but a last minute invite to the cinema was well needed and deserved. I’ve been up at 4 am the last 2 days as I said previously, for the shoot for online fashion store Rupalionline.com, Jheeeze it nearly killed me I’ve been in bed and sleeping like a baby by 9 every night ha ha! I managed to snap a few pictures in between shooting just for you to see the general styling of the shoot, I absolutely love the hair ornaments that the Indian women wear and Rupali offers such reasonable pricing I full intend to make an order asap. But on the subject of photo shoots and modelling I can’t help but briefly touch on something that myself and Jay Jessop a model I worked with on the shoot and fellow blogger found ourselves discussing yesterday after noon and with the controversy surrounding the Versace for H&M apparent refusal to use “real women” in their advertising campaign I find it quite fitting. I mean what is a real women, who invented this label for this apparently increasingly ignored group of women? I remember watching an episode of “Colleens real women” and thinking that every girl that made it through would have no doubt worked very well in the hands of a suitable Agency. Does this mean that because I work part time (when I can be bothered and usually if a casting isn’t involved) as a model I’m not considered a real women? or because I’m skinny that too contributes to my “unrealness”? Does it also mean that an anorexia sufferer is to be labelled unreal due to her disease meaning she falls below societies ideas of normal? I’m unsure as to how […]

I’m unsure as to how this liberation of “real women” in the fashion industry is going to aid sufferers of both anorexia or over eating disorders, surely it’s just alienating yet another group of women rather and uniting another…I am trying not to rant but I’m really interested in others views on this subject as every time I hear those two words I feel infuriated, I do not wan’t to be what society expects me to be but I understand the detrimental impact it can have on young girls…and with this new notion of real women, how many more mixed signals do we want to send them?

Anyway Enough of that for now here is the outfit post I have been promising all week, it’s actually not the coat I’ve been meaning to show you but I promise that one is coming!

Ginger Fur Stole – H&M
Black Fur Stole – New Look
Coat – H&M – 50% off
Aztec Cardigan – Topshop
Fur headband – TkMaxx
Bag – Mulberry
Shoes – Melody Direct
