beat the spring style blues

30th April 2018
Is it just me or does Spring dressing appear to be even more problematic this year? What is this weather? last week it was 27 degrees but this week we’re currently cruising at around 5 or 6. It’s hard to enjoy getting dressed in the morning when you’re unsure whether you will end the day sweating profusely or with your teeth chattering. Whilst I have my spring wardrobe full of florals and beautiful nude linen fabrics on standby I tend to opt for more Summer to Autumn transitional pieces to get me through the erratic temperatures at this time of year. In todays post I’m exploring Transitional Dressing and I have teamed up with Luxury Retailer, Flannels. Having shopped there since before my full time blogging days its always been some what of a secret I’ve kept to myself. But not for much longer as they plan to open their first shop in London very soon. Whenever I’m after the must have item that has sold out everywhere, I know I’ll find it in stock on Flannels and usually end up buying more because they usually have great savings in their sale too.       LAYERING It’s not ground breaking, I know but one of the best ways to stay warm without having to throw on a coat is to add layers to your outfit. I love shirts layered under dresses, jumpsuits and knitwear as well as statement cardigans which you can throw on to bring the whole outfit alive whilst keeping you warm without weighing you down. LAYERING

It’s not ground breaking, I know but one of the best ways to stay warm without having to throw on a coat is to add layers to your outfit. I love shirts layered under dresses, jumpsuits and knitwear as well as statement cardigans which you can throw on to bring the whole outfit alive whilst keeping you warm without weighing you down.

SUBTLE POPS

As someone more on the neutral end of the spectrum, the introduction of colour is something I save for this time of year and still tread carefully. My favourite injection of colour always comes from accessories, from statement shoes to the ultimate handbag. It means that my every day wardrobe remains versatile meaning I get the most wear out of it but with the addition of some snazzy new shoes or a new bag it can be styled in a much more statement way.  Yellow and lilac are big trend colour this season and I am officially on the hunt.

BLAZERS

Blazers are probably one of the best ares of your wardrobe to invest which is why my collection of Balmain is ever growing.

They really are, along side good denim, one of the most versatile pieces in your wardrobe and an area which is always good to invest for transitional seasons. Worn dressed up, or dressed down, with shorts or dresses, as a full suit or a casual cover up I really am yet to find an outfit that doesn’t lend its self to a good quality blazer. I’ve been lusting after this cobolt blue number for a good few weeks now.

DRESSES & BOOTS

One of my style staples as always been feminine dresses and over the knee boots. The pairing just seems to work and also gives you the option of actually wearing those new spring Zimmermann dresses you have been hoarding in preparation of the warmer months, whilst not dying of hypothermia.

The soft, delicate florals which Zimmermann does so well are a must in every Spring wardrobe and I always find great pieces and sometimes with great prices from Flannels. I then pair them with trusty Stuart Weitzman Boots in a neutral grey suede .

What are your Spring style staples? What the one item you absolutely have to have this season?

Hair @imy_hair for @greatlengthsuk
I’m in my golden era. Ad having nurtured my hair back to health with professional haircare, supplements and hair oiling I knew I didn’t have enough time to grow my hair back for Summer so the wonderful team at @greatlengthsuk enlisted @imy_hair to transform me into my Summer style for the next few months. For those that don’t know Great Lengths has always been my extension brand of choice, about 15 years ago I had them for 2.5years to help me grow my hair back after I experimented a little too much with my style. My hair grew back healthy and strong and I didn’t have to wish the time away as the extensions gave me the extra few inches I needed without damaging my hair. I will have these removed at the end of the summer to continue to grow my hair back with regular Diamond cuts.
