As I mentioned in my ‘Opening to Chapter Five’ it feels like Spring has only just delivered on its promise of sunshine. With that in mind, I felt inclined to pull together a round up of my favourite affordable dresses that can be worn as we transition from Spring to Summer.
All of the below come in under £200 (most under £100) and will look B-E-A-utfiul over the coming months.
As always, I’d pair these with the classics:
My Hermes Oran sandals, Celine sunglasses and a tan Hermes belt (linked below.)

Once again, H&M have released a striped linen midi shirt in their premium collection and just like last year’s version, this olive striped dress made from 100% linen has stolen my heart! I’d wear this around the house and garden when I’m looking for something airy and comfortable to wear or for an afternoon spent pottering around garden centres in weeks to come.
There’s something so effortlessly chic about a belted, a-line midi dress and this floral number from Mango demonstrates that so well. At under £60, it’s the perfect wedding guest dress for this summer if you ask me. It looks like it should cost triple the price too.
If you’re looking for something feminine and whimsical, this floral, chiffon maxi dress from H&M ticks all the boxes. Perfect for a Sunday afternoon spent hosting in the garden, it’s guaranteed to receive all the compliments.
You can’t go wrong with a simple strapless dress so this khaki, midi from Amazon does no wrong in my eyes. Perfect for gardening or pottering around the house in, I can already tell I’m going to live in it over the coming weeks.
On the slightly more formal side, this stunning linen, floral dress is perfect for any occasion over the coming months or a meeting in the sunshine when you want to look and feel your best! Whether you’re off to the races, a christening, a wedding, you name it… paired with my nude Louboutin ‘Kate’ heels, you’ll turn heads, I’m sure!
If you want a pop of colour, this linen shirt dress from Karen Millen is hard to say no to. In my opinion, orange is one of those colours that you put on and can’t help but feel optimistic. Whether you need something smart yet cool for the office or a ‘throw it on and feel fabulous’ dress, it’s the kind of dress that can be relied on throughout both seasons for multiple occasions, year-on-year.
On the blustery days where the sun can’t decide what it wants to do, this khaki cord midi from Beaufort & Blake rises to the occasion and provides a perfect transitionary dress that keeps you warmer than the average Spring/Summer dress. Paired with sandals and bare legs, you’ll still look suitably seasonal too.
There’s a reason why I shone the spotlight on this dress a few weeks ago! The white version is one of my proudest designs from every Lydia X Karen Millen collection I’ve worked on so the fact that it’s now available in this stunning shade of sky blue makes me so happy.
