Whether the sun is shining outside and we’ve got the patio doors wide open or it’s bitter and bleak and we want to retreat inside, I never tire of the timeless shade on the walls throughout the vast majority of our home (Dropcloth by Farrow & Ball should you be interested.)
Given that playing around with interior design brings me so much joy though, I will always look to update the home in other ways each season and ensure that they feel suitably seasonal.
With that in mind, the accessories below have been picked by yours truly with summer in mind.
Allow me to present my summer homeware refresh…
I discovered this candle a few days ago and have been burning it religiously throughout the house ever since. It’s fresh and floral and everything you want a summer candle to be.
When you find a print like this one from Bertioli that encapsulates some of your favourite things about summer, you’ll find yourself getting it out and smiling like you’re seeing it for the first time every year. It’s perfect for summer dinner parties – indoors or out – and is guaranteed to get guests talking.
Again, something simple as a new jug on the table filled with fresh blooms is an easy win at this time of year. What I love about this one specifically though is that it feels summery and bright when I look at it now but come winter, it will look just as good filled with foraged, festive goods.
I bought this mottled green bud vase set from Amazon last week as they’re the perfect size for my sweet peas and look beautiful perched on random ledges throughout the home. I find myself gifting friends handout flowers at this time of year as well so thought these would look a bit nicer than a soggy bit of kitchen roll wrapped around the stems!
I love the versatility that good quality linen napkins like this pepper green set offer. Scattered on plates at a dining table – inside or out – they’re an easy way to add seasonal greens to your home.
Good quality ceramics make excellent kitchen surface accessories year round in my opinion. Given that summer berries are in season right now, not only is this ceramic berry colander aesthetically beautiful, it’s practical at this time of year too!
There’s something so effortlessly beautiful about an antique wicker basket with a bunch of handcut and tied lavender draped within it at this time of year. Placed on an ottoman in the living room or on a side table in the hallway, it smells heavenly and instantly makes me think of summer.
I don’t know about you but we entertain at home so much more in summer so find that updating tableware is an easy way to have fun with new designs throughout the warmer months. Having recently returned from Tuscany, I love the look of this sage tuscan serving bowl for fresh salads and sides.
When in doubt, update your cushions! In the summer months, all of our wintry, velvet, wool and tweed cushions get vacuum packed and stored in the attic until the colder months return. Lighter fabrics and colours like this moss striped cushion take their place. It’s an easy win.
The key to accessorising a tray is to keep it simple and let what’s in and around it do the talking. Perch it on top of three beautifully illustrated hardback books placed to one side of a coffee table, with nothing but a candle and a small vase filled with freshly cut flowers placed on it (the mottled green bud vase or farmhouse water jug above are great examples.)

Lidia,
I’ve been watching your you tube videos now for about 7 months. You are lovely and you have exquisite taste. I’ve learned so much from you and are always inspired by your videos. I visited England some time ago and I loved it. Wish I could get back there. My favorite place was the Cotswolds. Im so sorry for any harsh comments from people who are basically jealous. And, our weather is very similar so I always relate to what you’re experiencing there. Keep up what you’re doing and ignore the naysayers!!! God bless all you do.

I’m so glad you’re enjoying it Debbie, thank you so much! Lydia x
