wildflower honey
&
rose petal granola

11th March 2024
Allow me to introduce my current breakfast obsession...

This Wildflower Honey & Rose Petal Granola is a revelation, surprising not only in its exquisite flavor but also in the overwhelming response it received when I shared the process on Stories over the weekend.

In truth, the notion of making my own granola had been on my mind for some time. However, it wasn’t until a serendipitous encounter with the book ‘Wild Sweetness’ during my seasonal visit to Burford Garden Centre that I felt compelled to finally give it a go.

I ordered a bag of edible rose petals from Amazon, swiftly followed by some stock of Wildflower Honey, in order to replace our depleted Millen-Gordon Honey supply. This honey, while not sourced from our garden’s wildflowers, proved to be the perfect substitute, and its certainly the the closest in flavour I’ve been able to find. But when paired with the rose petals, dates, and an assortment of nuts and seeds in order to make the granola, the final result was nothing short of spectacular. So much so that even my Dad went home with a paper bag filled with his own batch.

Not only is this granola absolutely delicious, but it also embodies a sense of natural beauty and wholesomeness, making it a thoughtful and beautiful gift. Now you know what I’m like, I take great pride in presenting it in brown paper bags adorned with our homemade produce labels as gifts or decanted into glass pantry jars with custom labels, elevating its presentation to reflect the care and attention invested in its creation.  I have included the recipe below, If you were perhaps interested in trying it for yourself.

You Will Need…

25g Cashew Nuts

25g Almonds

25g Hazelnuts

25g Macademia Nuts

30g Sunflower Seeds

30g Pumpkin Seeds

20g Flaxseeds

300g Rolled Oats

100g Dried Dates

150g Wildflower Honey

Place ingredients in a blender and pulse to desired texture.

Spread evenly on a baking tray and bake at 160 degrees celsius (fan oven) for 15-20 minutes, tossing every few minutes until golden brown.

Leave to cool on the tray.

Add a handful of dried edible rose petals and store in a glass airtight jar for beautiful breakfasts!

Have you made your own granola before? What are your favourite combinations? I’d love to know in the comments!
