fragrant fancies

15th September 2014
So I have this problem and it’s sort of becoming a bigger problem; I don’t have enough rooms in my house for all the candles I have/want. Candles and smellies are such a big part of my interior style that whenever shopping I always find myself drawn to them. But now there’s no room left and I’m having to store candles in cupboards because my buying to burning ratio is a tad off, so I decided to put together my top 5 (in no particular order) Candles in the hope that you love them just as much as I do. 1. Ashley Cahill –  FRESH £38.00 I love to burn this candle in the morning as I sip my coffee over looking the garden, with hints of fresh lychee & soft spring peonies, the smell is an instant refresh for your senses. It’s also made from Soy wax rather than paraffin so its non-toxic and burns much cleaner. Soy wax candles also burn slower that paraffin candles which means more for your money too!   2. Primark – Sweet Vanilla & Coconut £1.50 You know those cheap herbal teas which you buy thinking you are saving money but when you get round to brewing a mug its just pretty pink warm water? In those instances, sometimes it’s better to just pay the extra. However in the case of this £1.50 candle from Primark, you can forget all that. This deliciously coconutty and sweet vanilla candle packs just the right amount of oomph required of scented candles and is always my go-to candle for day to day use. Stocking up wont break the bank either when this generous size costs only £1.50….I mean did I mention that it’s only £1.50!!   3. Diptyque – Figuier £40.00 Scented candle royalty, Diptyque produce some of the most aesthetically […]

1. Ashley Cahill –  FRESH £38.00

I love to burn this candle in the morning as I sip my coffee over looking the garden, with hints of fresh lychee & soft spring peonies, the smell is an instant refresh for your senses. It’s also made from Soy wax rather than paraffin so its non-toxic and burns much cleaner. Soy wax candles also burn slower that paraffin candles which means more for your money too!

Stocking up wont break the bank either when this generous size costs only £1.50….I mean did I mention that it’s only £1.50!!

3. Diptyque – Figuier £40.00

Scented candle royalty, Diptyque produce some of the most aesthetically beautiful and stunning scents on the market. Unfortunately they do come with a price tag to match but the uniquely Diptyque scents in my opinion are Oh-So-Worth it. And not to mention that beautiful jar will make a great accessory for your dressing table. I like to keep mine on my bed side table so that I fall asleep with the elusive scent of fresh figs. Dreamy!

4. Neom – White Neroli, Mimosa & Lemon £45.00

By Far my favourite of them all this 3 wick, 420g candle from Neom sits proudly on our entrance hall table as I want this one scent to be the first to greet you, me or even the window cleaner on arrival. Appropriately named “Happiness” this candle boasts a potent blend of aromatherapy oils which transport you to the Great British Spring time via a “sparkling blend of white neroli, mimosa & lemon combined with fresh grass notes”. The picture above may look slightly cheesy but you can find me doing exactly that on an almost daily basis.

5. NARS – Acapulco £34.50

An impulse purchase made in celebration of completing on our home back in April. This all black candle from NARS has a sleek design and paraffin free wax whilst diffusing a rich top note of creamy chocolate and essense of whipped cream. This is like your favourite winter warming hot chocolate without the calories. The only downside is that no matter how much I trim the wick, it seems to throw out dark smoke which can sometimes over power our modest livingroom. But that aside this is the candle for the Chocoholics in all of us.
