Be it a partner looking for recommendations for their girlfriend/wife (top hubby points!); a loving parent looking to spoil their daughter (who happens to be a subscriber – thank you!); or one of you lovely lot looking to spoil yourself (which I’m 100% here for), nothing says ‘Christmas is on its way’ more than an influx of emails with ‘advent calendar recommendations’ in the subject line!
Now – I won’t lie – in the past I haven’t been all that good at featuring them (I’m more of an ‘I’d prefer one big present’ kind of girl if I’m being honest!) With both advent calendar-loving Grayson sisters in my team nowadays however, I’m severely outnumbered so have raised my game this year. With that in mind, I thought I’d hand the reins over to the entire Millen-Gordon team (fur babies included) to give you a well-balanced overview of what we’re loving this year.
Without further ado therefore…
“When it comes to picking a fragrance, I can’t be the only one that finds smelling lots of perfumes/candles all at once overwhelming (and because it’s so subjective, you don’t want to invest in the wrong one, right?) With that in mind, I like the idea of breaking that process up throughout December so you get a good sniff of one fragrance per day! That way, come Christmas Day, you’ve found your dream fragrance (and gained lots of travel size perfumes for the New Year too)
With the above in mind, Penhaligon’s, Diptyque’s & Jo Malone’s are all strong contenders for me.”
“Rituals is one of my favourite beauty/wellness brands because their products provide daily pockets of escapism and indulgence that help me to switch off after a busy day. Which is why I’ve got my eyes on their advent calendar this year. Not only does it include one of my all-time favourite shower gels (The Ritual of Jing Sleep Foaming Shower Gel) but the products are mostly unisex so my partner can benefit too!”
“As far as sweet recommendations go, I’m a huge fan of Pip & Nut on my porridge in the mornings so the Pip & Nut butter cup advent calendar looks right up my street too. Melted on top of my morning porridge or used as extra snack fuel to power me through vlogmas, they’re utterly delicious and beat any regular chocolate offering if you ask me…”
“I don’t know a single friend who wouldn’t be over the moon if The White Company’s advent calendar landed on their doorstep. After all, their ‘Winter’ range is basically the smell of Christmas right!? With that in mind, there will never be a year where their’s doesn’t feature at the top my list. (Hint hint Santa!)
If food/drink related advent calendars are what you’re after though, I love the idea of Pukka Herbs’s Herbal Tea Advent Calendar. I’m a creature of habit so tend to just drink their ‘Three Mint’ and ‘Feel New’ blends daily throughout the year, so love the idea of trying their whole range across the month…”
We had to force a recommendation from Ali because he, like me, has never really done them! After taking a look at the contents of Liberty’s Men’s Advent Calendar though, something tells me he’s come round to the idea this year…
The fur babies have very expensive taste (!) so if it was up to them, they’d have a fresh bone of some sort from our local butchers delivered each day! Given that I don’t want to raise spoilt sausages (and Lumi’s already a diva!), the Bella & Duke advent calendar is their preferred next best option!
