More commonly known as… My rescue haircare essentials.
With that in mind, below you’ll find a breakdown of the products I use on a weekly basis along with a brief summary of how I use them if that’s helpful too (?) so that you, like me, can restore your hair back to good health if it’s been damaged by excess styling, excessive heat, dodgy colouring, or such like…
Grab your notebooks and pens ladies and gentlemen.
I have a sneaky suspicion that you’ll want to jot these ones down…
Function of Beauty have created the dream shampoo as far as I’m concerned so a hair wash always starts with a back-to-back clean using their customisable range followed by this intensive Oribe hair mask that I leave on for 30 minutes, two times a week.
After washing out and towel drying, I mix 2 chickpea sized dollops of Olaplex No. 6 Bond Smoother (to quote Olaplex, ‘a highly concentrated leave-in smoothing cream’) with 3-4 drops of Olaplex No. 7 Bonding Oil (a weightless, repairing oil that gets to work on any damage) and apply evenly to both sides of my hair. Again, two times a week.
If my hair is in need of some extra TLC, I occasionally use Phillip Kingsley’s Elasticizer before shampooing too – a hero product in my eyes because it doesn’t feel heavy (unlike so many masks out there) and leaves my hair feeling strong and smelling divine… if I do say so myself!
My (amazing) hairdresser has made it her mission to restore my hair back to its former health so advised a few weeks back that I start getting weekly Olaplex treatments at my local salon – a process that’s designed to rebuild broken bonds in your hair and prevent further damage from all of the usual suspects. Available at most hair salons around the country, not only is it already making a difference to my hair but it’s a welcomed excuse to leave the house for an hour long pamper!
I’m yet to find a hairdryer that beats GHD’s Helios hairdryer. For hot waves, my go-to is this Diva barrel from Amazon. And for heat-free waves, you know I’m in the midst of a pretty intense love affair with the Silkenberry heatless waves kit! Watch my recent reel here to see this one in action – I warn you now, she’s a thing of beauty.
Finally, though not essential, these silk scrunchies from Nice Cream Co. and these dreamy silk pillowcases from Lilysilk add a little bit of luxury to what is otherwise a pretty mandatory routine for my mane right now! Naturally, I opt for the sage green tones (what a surprise Lydia, I know!) but I’ll be nice and let you insert your colour of choice here.
