With that in mind, I thought I’d create a 2022 Mothers Day gift guide, in case you’re short of inspiration on the run up to this Sunday.
From my go-to classics that you can’t go wrong with to the ultimate pamper products that show you really care, it’s impossible to receive one of these gifts and not feel special. And that’s how all Mums deserve to feel, right?
With that in mind, let the Mother’s Day gift guide commence…
‘Lydia’s talking about candles again…’ I know, I know, I’m a broken a record. But why try to fight it when it feels so right?! Speaking from personal experience, I’m yet to receive a candle from NEOM’s ‘Scent to…’ range that I haven’t fallen in love with, so their ‘Scent to make you happy’ or ‘Scent to De-stress’ candles always come to mind for my Mum.
I’m partial to creating a gift box full of my favourite pamper products too so with Mums in mind, this year I’d head straight to the following. Aurelia London for their Restorative Body Wash. Bertioli by Thyme for their calming Breathing Balm. La Perla for their Nourishing Body Balm. And Jo Malone for their hand cream. Easy.
Let’s face it, I don’t think there’s a Mum out there who would refuse a good night’s sleep if it was offered so anything related to relaxation and deep sleep is always a thoughtful gesture.
With that in mind, Aurelia London’s pillow mist encourages a sense of calm before bedtime. A pair of (sage green) Lilysilk pyjamas adds a well-deserved layer of luxury. And Bertioli’s Silk Sleep mask provides the perfect excuse to switch off.
Though I think there’s always a place for elaborate, one-off gestures, I love giving gifts that can be used again and again. So when it comes to Mother’s Day, any gift that says “you deserve to put your feet up” is an instant win… because Mum’s deserve that on a daily basis!
Nothing says “put your feet up” better than my Soho Home dressing gown in my opinion. Coupled with a pair of cashmere socks from Brora or slippers from The White Company, your Mum will have no excuse but to curl up and unwind.
With the arrival of British Summer Time and Mother’s Day on the same day, every Mum that happens to love gardening will be in her element! So why not run with the theme and get her something plant based?
I am a little bit obsessed with my spring wreath from Hello Petal – you can buy their DIY spring wreath kit here. I will never not be in love with my garden Trug either – the ultimate accessory for planting this spring! (Mine is from Daylesford but they’re out of stock so I’ve linked a similar one here!)
Aka. My kind of women! You can’t go wrong with a bottle of the good stuff can you? So for me, Moet is always a good idea. Selfridges offer a personalised service if you want to take it up a notch but personalised or not, it’s a winner every time!
We had one of the Otto Pasta Boxes delivered for dinner last week and as soon as it arrived, I knew that it would be perfect for this list! Created by Michelin star chef, Paul Howard, it was one of the best home delivery meals we’ve had the pleasure of tasting and is bound to impress any pasta lover out there!
If your Mum happens to love a cup of tea and a natter, you can’t go wrong with Cartwright and Butler’s Sharing Hamper. Complete with all of their (unbelievably tasty) classics like chocolate wafers and oat crumbles, unlike a few of their hampers, it also comes in one of the wooden Cartwright and Butler crates – a gift in itself, if you ask me.
Though this category might not be for everyone, a few Mummy friends of mine are currently exploring ideas for life post-maternity leave and are in need of a bit of encouragement to rebuild their confidence again. If you happen to know a Mum who might be feeling the same, a gift that helps them to invest in their self-development might be worth considering.
My annual membership to Audible is one of the best gifts I ever bought myself because it’s made self-development so much more accessible for me and though I’m no expert in good reads for new Mums (!) I know that there are plenty out there waiting to be consumed!
Finally, for the Mums that say “quality time with you” when you ask for gift ideas (just mine?!) these satin robes from Amazon will make them feel like they’re being pampered. A personalised Emma Bridgewater mug shows that you didn’t buy last minute! And this Smythson notebook is always a handy one to have around.
