9 stunning winter coats

19th November 2020

I recently shared a collection of my favourite winter coats I’m wearing right now and my coat collection is, if I do say so myself, ON POINT! I’ve got statement prints, faux fur snugglefests and the chicest tailored classics I could ever dream of. I think investing in your outer wear at this time of year is so important because coats aren’t just for keeping you warm anymore, they are an outfit in their own right and so its important to nail your collection ahead of the cold snap.

VINTAGE FAUX FUR

This particular piece is probably the most affordable of this edit and I’m still floored by the quality of this “high street” purchase. Its the perfect length, looks way more expensive than it was and cinching it in with a statement designer belt completely transforms the coat. It looks as great on the slopes teamed with moon boots and Dior sunnies as it does with leather trousers and Chelsea boots in London (in post lock down life of course).

THE COATIGAN

For those strange transitional days where its not quite warm and it’s not quite sub zero either I love this coatigan from SOH its so easy to throw on around the house over cashmere as well as style up for everyday wear. It comes in cream, which of course I have but the black has been stealing the show recently with its relaxed approach to outerwear.

CAMEL CLASSICS

From the Camel Investment coat from my Karen Millen edit to this my Bicester village Tod’s bargain find which featured in my Reels a classic camel coat is a timeless addition to any wardrobe, I love pairing mine with a LV monogram print and a sleek black outfit.

HERITAGE COLOURS

One of my biggest inspirations at the moment is where we live in the English countryside so heritage hues and traditional tweeds are becoming a real presence in my every day wardrobe and this Heritage green military coat, which by the way was an instant sell out as part of my Karen Millen edit, is one of my most complimented coats of the season.

MODERN CLASSIC TRENCH

The Classic Trench coat, which of course we will get to, isn’t going out of style any time soon and this modern twist from Holland Cooper comes in this statement Maxi length and real modern traditional take on Heritage fabrics. This sage hue completely stole my heart.

THE CLASSIC TRENCH

Of course The Classic Trench would make an appearance, from Burberry to Balmain its worn every winter across the globe but this new addition to my wardrobe from Karen Millen is Luxe at a more affordable price. However with Karen Millen high end fabrics its definitely not the cheapest, there’s no compromise on quality and their Atelier like approach to design and manufacturing often once their pieces are gone, they’re gone!

THE STATEMENT PIECE

I feel like every winter coat collection needs something just a little bit “out there” and print for me is where I have a my fun. Again bringing traditional prints a more modern twist, with this houndstooth wrap coat, this piece is for the days when I want to make a real impact.

CHIC FAUX FUR

My cream faux fur tiki coat is approaching it’s second year on rotation and it’s another one of my most complimented pieces so I’m sad to see it’s not back this winter. But just because it hasn’t made a come back in stores doesn’t mean I won’t be reaching for it during the colder months.

THE ‘I MEAN BUSINESS’ COAT

I wasn’t quite prepared for how incredible the fit of Karen Millen’s ‘Investment coat’ actually is. It’s the ultimate Power coat for heading to the office or important meeting or just like a good pair of heels, you need a little bit of extra power that day!

Everything feels a little more optimistic as March begins don’t you think?
It’s the start of spring in my book Evergreen shortly followed by the spring equinox so there’s ample time to prepare, nest and refresh.

The plum tree in our garden is always the first blossom to erupt at this time of year narrowly beating the much loved aubretia that grows in abundance through our old garden wall.
