I am hairy. Now you can keep that mental picture, think of it as my Christmas gift to you, I know right, you’re welcome. But in all seriousness I am and throughout my teens I was painfully insecure about it. I had to start shaving my legs long before girls should have to but if the truth be told, I wouldn’t have it any other way. If I may blow my own trumpet for a brief moment, I do have a cracking head of hair and if that means I have to spend the best part of 15 minutes getting rid of it elsewhere I’ll take it and I’ve been doing it for so damn long I like to think of myself as a bit of an expert.
I’ve tried every kind of hair removal going and aside from dropping a few thousand on hair removal, nothing has every worked and I have always gone back to shaving where I’ve now developed my own fool proof routine for super smooth legs.
[lem_title]Exfoliate[/lem_title]
I start by soaking my legs in a hot bath using moisturising bath soaks to soften the skin ready for exfoliation. Using a top quality exfoliating mit, preferably lathered with either shaving foam or a gentle foaming body wash, I then buff my legs moving against the growth of the hair to ensure each individual follicle is open and the hair properly exposed so that there is no skin covering and the razor can pass easily over the area without cutting, nipping or causing the dreaded razor burn to the skin.
This step completely transformed my leg shaving process into a easy and smooth experience no matter what stage of regrowth and an added bonus, exfoliating is also great for combatting cellulite.
[lem_title]Using the right Raz0r[/lem_title]
For years I couldn’t understand why my legs were never as smooth as I wanted and it simply came down to the equipment I was using. So I got myself a proper razor and never looked back. But even now the innovation when it comes to razors continues to evolve and with the latest technology comes the smoothest legs. I have recently been using the new Venus Swirl which launches here in the UK this January. The Venus Swirl has a new multi-dimensional pivoting mechanism called FLEXIBALL. This is the first of its kind and the technology allows the razor to navigate the hardest areas to reach (I cannot be the only girl who finds tufts in area’s they had no idea tufts could grow) but even more important to achieving the smoothest results, are the blades themselves. The Venus Swirl has 5 super sharp ‘Contour blades’ which are apparently 6 times more flexible and adjust to every curves.
To ensure you are always working with the best conditions I recommend changing your blades once per week as blunt razors can cause irritation and you simply wont achieve the smoothness.
[lem_title]Moisturising[/lem_title]
To finish the process a good moisturiser is an absolute must. You want one that your pores will absorb and that wont sit on top of your skin. One that will target your problem areas whilst revitalising your skin, which finishes off my fool proof guide to the smoothest legs perfectly.
