how i stay true to my spring style

27th April 2017

But for me, unless it’s a sign of respect, professionalism or the like, I tend to dance to the beat of my own drum. Curating my Spring wardrobe this season was much easier and I feel like I’ve found a good rhythm.   Clear out the unworn I started by whittling out the items I hadn’t worn throughout the previous season, selling them off to homes that hopefully will show them the love they deserve. This is my best advice for keeping your wardrobe fresh. Don’t hoard items on the pretence that “one day” you might wear them. Let them go and make way for items you know you will wear and wear.   Use wishlists & shopping baskets If I’m looking to haul a lot of new in items from a range of stores, to ensure I’m not ordering similar items I make full use of the online functions that the digital age now benefits from. Most websites now have “wishlist” functions or at the very least you have a shopping basket where you can put all the items you are planning on purchasing, and compare against your other baskets from other stores. This way I can be certain I am purchasing the items I feel will fulfil my wardrobe for the season a head as these days I try to buy more items that wont go out of style as quickly as some. However, I certainly don’t limit my wardrobe to this. What makes you happy The biggest advice I can give when curating your style for the season a head is always to wear what makes you happy […]

There’s often talk about how you “should” dress for certain occasions. Festivals, nights out, work meetings the list goes on. But for me, unless it’s a sign of respect, professionalism or the like, I tend to dance to the beat of my own drum.

Curating my Spring wardrobe this season was much easier and I feel like I’ve found a good rhythm.

Clear out the unworn

I started by whittling out the items I hadn’t worn throughout the previous season, selling them off to homes that hopefully will show them the love they deserve. This is my best advice for keeping your wardrobe fresh. Don’t hoard items on the pretence that “one day” you might wear them. Let them go and make way for items you know you will wear and wear.

Use wishlists & shopping baskets

If I’m looking to haul a lot of new in items from a range of stores, to ensure I’m not ordering similar items I make full use of the online functions that the digital age now benefits from. Most websites now have “wishlist” functions or at the very least you have a shopping basket where you can put all the items you are planning on purchasing, and compare against your other baskets from other stores. What makes you happy

The biggest advice I can give when curating your style for the season a head is always to wear what makes you happy and comfortable. Some people dress for other women, some for men but personally I like to dress for myself and how I feel most comfortable. Whilst on a recent trip to Coachella it was a struggle not to get caught up in the edgy Boho vibes of the stunning girls who attend the festival, they all looked incredible. But I knew that just was not me or my style and it was so lovely to receive so many comments from people appreciating how I’d stayed true to that.

Classic Accessories

The items in my wardrobe that have always been the most important are my accessories. I’m best known for my love of handbags, but my shoe and watch collections easily rival this.

Time pieces have always been an essential and important aspect of every seasonal wardrobe and I started my collection around the age of nineteen and now have over 20 different styles, sizes & price points. I have always loved playing with different hardwares and this season I’ve been styling a blend of Rose gold and Silver throughout my jewellery style and the item to bring those two hardwares together has been my Cluse “La Vadette” Watch with it’s rose gold face and silver mesh strap it perfectly fuses all of the separate pieces from my current jewellery style seamlessly. It has a small and delicate aesthetic that doesn’t over power the wrist or the other jewellery items you choose to style.

Buy Less, Choose Well

A quick whip around the highstreet stores or fast fashion outlets has become a thing of the past for me. If I didn’t like things or they were faulty I rarely had the time to return them or send them back and ended up with a lot of unwanted items. My new approach to shopping has proved much more successful, less time consuming and in the last few months I’ve not ordered an item thats needed returning which has been a revelation.

I’ve been selecting items much more carefully and steering clear of impulse or unconsidered purchases. It has mean’t that I now wear my wardrobe much more and spend less time clearing it out.

Ad Embarking on a journey of timeless treasures, my passion for antiquing began in the warmth of late summer 2019. When I discovered my father’s old boarding school tuck trunk nestled in the attic of their home. Since then, my weekends have unfolded like chapters in a novel, meandering through antiques emporiums and brocantes across the country.

Each trip unveils a tapestry of tales from bygone eras - from weathered pickling jars and vases to opulent French chandeliers and steamer trunks, and with each trip, I was captivated by the hidden secrets and untold histories woven into each artefact.

It’s the start of spring in my book Evergreen shortly followed by the spring equinox so there’s ample time to prepare, nest and refresh.
