how to style the ‘shirt dress’ in 2016

15th August 2016
Ah! I hear you say, the ‘Shirt Dress’. You’re english teacher may have worn a few and you can be sure you’ve spotted a few on the underground during the morning commute but are they really a style staple of the modern day fashionista? “In  my head it might just work, it also might look absolutely ridiculous but hey, we were about to find out either way. “   I ordered this faux suede number a few weeks ago and it hung in my wardrobe, labels in tact much like how many of my impulse purchases find themselves. Unloved and unworn, until I finally admit defeat and palm them off on my friends. That was, until a few days ago when I decided to put it with an unlikely partner. The Bardot Top, it was to go on to be my most favourite outfit of 2016 thus far.                         In  my head it might just work, it also might look absolutely ridiculous but hey, we were about to find out either way.   Somehow the detached bardot style of this simplistic Maje top created the perfect structured “Cold Shoulder” effect when teamed with the shirt dress. Of course this is all totally I-M-O but I really did love the look so much, I decided not to waste the outfit on one of those so-so Sunday afternoons and save it for a day of meetings or events, where I actually go places n’ stuff. Those are the days that a style blogger lives for…however those sweat pant days are the real winners but I digress slightly.   Detached Badot tops are not easy to come buy hence why I chose to spend considerably more […]

Detached Badot tops are not easy to come buy hence why I chose to spend considerably more on this occasion, but in order to achieve the comfort in hand with what could be potential office attire or simply day-to day, this style is necessary. And to really update the look I opted for the modern classic style of the Louis Vuitton Capucines BB bag and a strategically placed Gucci scarf.

Now I suddenly need all the shirt dresses in my wardrobe immediately.

Ad Embarking on a journey of timeless treasures, my passion for antiquing began in the warmth of late summer 2019. When I discovered my father’s old boarding school tuck trunk nestled in the attic of their home. Since then, my weekends have unfolded like chapters in a novel, meandering through antiques emporiums and brocantes across the country.

Each trip unveils a tapestry of tales from bygone eras - from weathered pickling jars and vases to opulent French chandeliers and steamer trunks, and with each trip, I was captivated by the hidden secrets and untold histories woven into each artefact.

Introducing ‘Scented Mementos’ - an enchanting limited edition collection by @jomalonelondon Each fragrance, a symphony of memories, encapsulates the essence of cherished moments. Immerse yourself in the zesty allure of Emerald Thyme, or indulge in the spicy nostalgia of Ginger Beer, where notes of ginger, roasted oak, and cinnamon intertwine to evoke memories of British antiques markets.

Everything feels a little more optimistic as March begins don’t you think?
It’s the start of spring in my book Evergreen shortly followed by the spring equinox so there’s ample time to prepare, nest and refresh.
The light returns, hello March 🌱

A little indulgence from my comfort of my own home thanks to INCREDIBLE @kmp_skin and @freshbeauty Ad
for the launch of the new Lotus Youth Preserve Resurfacing dream serum which is a gentle AHA serum with prickly pear flower extract said to boost radiance and it was so lovely to be treated to a first trial to get a very first impression of the serum thanks to KMP and her magic hands. I’ve literally never had a facial like it!
