how to style the classic blazer

27th June 2016
If you hadn’t guessed it, I am obsessed. This blazer has not left my back from the moment it arrived and there’s no signs of it going anywhere either which I actually find quite amusing considering the lengths I went to, to get out of wearing my school one. It’s funny how things change as we grow up isn’t it! Having purchased a plethora of of blazers throughout my career as a fully fledged consumer of all that is fashion, I decided it was time to bite the bullet and add the mother of all blazers into the collection; The Balmain Blazer. The silhouette, the structured shoulders, the material and those outlandish gold accents make for a very serious addition to anyones wardrobe. It took time, consideration and a fair few weeks of cold baked beans out of the can to be able to finally put my money where my mouth was but I have never looked back. As always I wear this stunningly sophisticated piece as a complete contrast to the outfit it finishes, with old distressed denim, a creased linen shirt and last seasons Gucci tied nonchalantly around my hips.   [lem_title]The Blazer[/lem_title] The blazer it’s self is the finishing touch to the outfit, but the most funamental part so it is important to get this locked from the outset. Going double breasted really adds an air of sophistication to the final look and the gold detailing gives a touch of 80’s glamour, I like to think I’m channelling my inner Cindy Crawford whenever I slip this over my shoulders. But as always you don’t have to go throwing all of your money at a Balmain sales assistant just yet, I think buying a blazer is a progression, I started off small. Buying safe and testing the water. Did I wear it enough? […]

[lem_title]The Blazer[/lem_title]

The blazer it’s self is the finishing touch to the outfit, but the most funamental part so it is important to get this locked from the outset. Was it versatile? In hind sight, did I look absolutely ridiculous? These were all questions that could only be answered by test driving so that is exactly what I did, but hey! If a Balmain is what the girl whats, it’s pretty inevitable.

[lem_title]White Linen[/lem_title]

I know that so many of you have been interested in where my white linen shirt has been from recently and I have kept super quiet about that one. Mainly because it was long gone much like most items that hit the ASOS New In section. So I’d been hunting for a suitable replacement, mainly for me as I’d worn that one to within an inch of it’s like so it was time for a refresh. I picked this beautiful Boyfriend Shirt up in Topshop on Saturday and it’s safe to say it’s even better than the last. So good in fact I purchased it in light blue for good measure.

I prefer white linen to normal structured boyfriend shirts because it’s far more carefree and casual, as if you really did just throw on your boyfriend shirt and ran out the front door looking that good!

[lem_title]Vintage Denim[/lem_title]

Vintage denim is an art. You can’t buy it just anywhere, you have the get the right wash, the right shade, how many rips is too many rips and so on. I also play close attention to the size, this pair is actually 2 sizes too big. It’s important to feel comfortable in denim and for myself, feeling like they are hugging every inch of me and boarder line lycra hot pants is simply not my idea of comfort. So I go big and I wear them with confidence. Unfortunately this pair is a old pair from H&M which cost about £14 but I have found some distressed beauties which meet my strict requirements.

[lem_title]A touch of Silk[/lem_title]

My belt collection is embarrassing and half the time I cant find one in my over crowded and undersized wardrobe so desperate times call for desperate measures. This Gucci scarf was the only thing to hand, and now I have a profound urge to buy all the silk scarves in all the prints.

[lem_title]Playful Footwear[/lem_title]

A new notion for me is colour, I’m trying hard to steer away from the hundreds of black designer shoes that line my wardrobe and really inject some fun back into it all. These shoes were wild for my own style and I wasn’t sure I’ll be honest but as the 3rd lady chased me down the platform to find out where they were from I realised I was onto a winner, I’m sorry I ever doubted you Suede babes.

Ad Embarking on a journey of timeless treasures, my passion for antiquing began in the warmth of late summer 2019. When I discovered my father’s old boarding school tuck trunk nestled in the attic of their home. Since then, my weekends have unfolded like chapters in a novel, meandering through antiques emporiums and brocantes across the country.

Each trip unveils a tapestry of tales from bygone eras - from weathered pickling jars and vases to opulent French chandeliers and steamer trunks, and with each trip, I was captivated by the hidden secrets and untold histories woven into each artefact.

Everything feels a little more optimistic as March begins don’t you think?
It’s the start of spring in my book Evergreen shortly followed by the spring equinox so there’s ample time to prepare, nest and refresh.
The light returns, hello March 🌱

A little indulgence from my comfort of my own home thanks to INCREDIBLE @kmp_skin and @freshbeauty Ad
for the launch of the new Lotus Youth Preserve Resurfacing dream serum which is a gentle AHA serum with prickly pear flower extract said to boost radiance and it was so lovely to be treated to a first trial to get a very first impression of the serum thanks to KMP and her magic hands. I’ve literally never had a facial like it!
