how to style summer florals

20th June 2016
This season I have fallen in love with florals, but not just any florals it’s that New Romantic kind of florals which appear as if they have faded somewhat, in the intensity of the Summer sun. Those intricate vintage prints are adorning dresses and accessories everywhere and I was determined to work them in to my wardrobe, ensuring I take a giant leap from my monochromatic Winter wardrobe. But it isn’t easy introducing such a beautiful feminine print into the wardrobe and style of a girl who likes to play it somewhat safe.   [lem_title]Choose The Print Wisely[/lem_title] Picking a floral print doesn’t mean you pick just any as it’s fairly easy, if done wrong, for it to look a little on the cheap side so I always look for the more ornate prints with a vintage feel that steers clear of being too “Cath Kidston-esque”. Blushed pinks and washed out nudes are currently the colours I’m looking for in floral prints after falling in love with this stunning playsuit from Zimmermann at Elise Walker. The prints and fabrics are sometimes even reminiscent of the dresses I wore as a child, those perfect tea dresses that only my Grandma knew where to find which made me look like a life sized doll. Chiffons, silks and other delicate fabrics are not only beautiful but also perfect for the heat, not that we are getting any here in the UK at the moment, but should we be lucky enough to jet of somewhere else. When buying florals I like to keep the fabrics light and delicate to really emphasis the prints femininity.

As always with my style I have to keep the balance of my femininity and casual style and the way that I do this is usually with a pair of carefully selected boots. For those bohemian Summer vibes my Isabel Marant ‘Dicker’ boots are always top of my list with their distressed suede and Cowboy infusion, I love how they compliment the earth tones of the playsuit whilst contrasting completely in style.

Ad Embarking on a journey of timeless treasures, my passion for antiquing began in the warmth of late summer 2019. When I discovered my father’s old boarding school tuck trunk nestled in the attic of their home. Since then, my weekends have unfolded like chapters in a novel, meandering through antiques emporiums and brocantes across the country.

Each trip unveils a tapestry of tales from bygone eras - from weathered pickling jars and vases to opulent French chandeliers and steamer trunks, and with each trip, I was captivated by the hidden secrets and untold histories woven into each artefact.

Introducing ‘Scented Mementos’ - an enchanting limited edition collection by @jomalonelondon Each fragrance, a symphony of memories, encapsulates the essence of cherished moments. Immerse yourself in the zesty allure of Emerald Thyme, or indulge in the spicy nostalgia of Ginger Beer, where notes of ginger, roasted oak, and cinnamon intertwine to evoke memories of British antiques markets.

Everything feels a little more optimistic as March begins don’t you think?
It’s the start of spring in my book Evergreen shortly followed by the spring equinox so there’s ample time to prepare, nest and refresh.
The light returns, hello March 🌱
There’s no such thing as bad weather, only bad weather attire 💧
A little indulgence from my comfort of my own home thanks to INCREDIBLE @kmp_skin and @freshbeauty Ad
for the launch of the new Lotus Youth Preserve Resurfacing dream serum which is a gentle AHA serum with prickly pear flower extract said to boost radiance and it was so lovely to be treated to a first trial to get a very first impression of the serum thanks to KMP and her magic hands. I’ve literally never had a facial like it!
