style tips to help you nail your summer wardrobe

20th May 2016
The seasons have always reflected in my style. In Winter I am dark, sophisticated and chic whereas when Summer rolls around my style transitions into feminine and playful pieces. But one thing is for sure, wherever I’m shopping, however much I’m spending I want to shop savvy, smart and efficiently so I’ve collated a few of my favourite tips and tricks for nailing your Summer wardrobe this season.   [lem_title]COLOUR[/lem_title] It’s no secret that I’m not big on colour, that doesn’t mean I told like colour. In fact some of the bloggers that I follow religiously are the most colourful in the business. But I am selective, and particular when it comes to my own injection of colour and when it comes to Summer this is where I get to practice this process. I still aim to channel the sophistication of my neutral Winter colour pallet with subtle and classic colour choices like this stunning orangey red dress from Tularosa at Revolve. The colour compliments my tan really nicely without being over baring and sits perfectly along side neutral and dark accessories like a certain pair of studded Chloe boots and a cross body bag.   [lem_title]FABRICS[/lem_title] There is a huge divide in the community over peoples buying patterns and budgets but I think what is forgotten is that there really is method in the “Madness” of spending more on your wardrobe. Whilst highstreet fashion is great, you guys know how obsessed I am with the likes of ASOS, Boohoo and Missguided. But when it’s 40 degrees outside you may want to be more selective with the fabrics you are wearing. Poly-blend fabrics don’t tend to be very breathable which can leave you sweltering and uncomfortable so look for cottons, linens and even silks to keep you cool in the heat.   […]

It’s no secret that I’m not big on colour, that doesn’t mean I told like colour. There is a huge divide in the community over peoples buying patterns and budgets but I think what is forgotten is that there really is method in the “Madness” of spending more on your wardrobe.

[lem_title]SHOPPING DESTINATIONS[/lem_title]

For as long as I can remember I have always wanted to leave people guessing when it comes to my wardrobe, “Is it designer, is it highstreet?” I loved the shocked expressions when I’d duped them into thinking an item was far more expensive than it was and I think it all comes down to where you shop. I love picking up the latest must have clothing item as much as the next person but I also like to find the unexpected and for that sometimes you need to go further a field like US sites where you can get hold of brands such as Zimmermann, Alexis and For Love & Lemons, that are slightly higher in price point but look like they fell right off the runway for a fraction of the price.

[lem_title]DETAILS[/lem_title]

The difference is in the details. Really examine the items you are buying especially during the Summer season when detailing is at an all time high with lace hems, embellishments and fringing, be sure to check the quality and attention because this can determine whether you get one of those coveted high end looking pieces for a bargain price, or whether you simply end up with a piece of tack.

[lem_title]ACCESSORIES[/lem_title]

As always with my style the accessories I pair with my outfits are the cherry on my cake. The right handbag and shoes can take a simple dress from a grungy studded book look to a chic feminine get up quicker than you can say “I’m wearing my wages!”. I did put together a helpful little post on buying the right designer accessories for your wardrobe so if you are thinking of taking the plunge to give it a read here.

Ad Embarking on a journey of timeless treasures, my passion for antiquing began in the warmth of late summer 2019. When I discovered my father’s old boarding school tuck trunk nestled in the attic of their home. Since then, my weekends have unfolded like chapters in a novel, meandering through antiques emporiums and brocantes across the country.

Each trip unveils a tapestry of tales from bygone eras - from weathered pickling jars and vases to opulent French chandeliers and steamer trunks, and with each trip, I was captivated by the hidden secrets and untold histories woven into each artefact.

Immerse yourself in the zesty allure of Emerald Thyme, or indulge in the spicy nostalgia of Ginger Beer, where notes of ginger, roasted oak, and cinnamon intertwine to evoke memories of British antiques markets.

Everything feels a little more optimistic as March begins don’t you think?
It’s the start of spring in my book Evergreen shortly followed by the spring equinox so there’s ample time to prepare, nest and refresh.
The light returns, hello March 🌱

A little indulgence from my comfort of my own home thanks to INCREDIBLE @kmp_skin and @freshbeauty Ad
for the launch of the new Lotus Youth Preserve Resurfacing dream serum which is a gentle AHA serum with prickly pear flower extract said to boost radiance and it was so lovely to be treated to a first trial to get a very first impression of the serum thanks to KMP and her magic hands. I’ve literally never had a facial like it!
