island hopping pt. 5 – ios & santorini

31th October 2015
On our final day Island hopping across Greece, we visited two of the most picturesque, starting with Ios. We walked through the narrow bright white streets of Chora at the break of dawn when any tourists are fast asleep. The Village is inaccessible to vehicles so we had to walk to the very top where we experienced panoramic views of the harbour. The billowing flowers which hung against the white walls were, of course, my most vivid memory. We then set off in search of Manganari beach were we feasted and enjoyed the crystal water lapping against the white sand before snoozing on sun loungers until late afternoon. Our final hop was across the waters to Santorini, an island I have longed to visit for as long as I can remember so I was sad when we had such a short stop there. We enjoyed one of the most pinnacle meals of the trip at Pyrgos, a gastfronomic experience with a pleasant view over the Island where as we dined we learnt about the unique agricultural produce on the island such as Tomato paste and Fava. The food really was spectacular. I longed to see the white caves built into the rocks but we had to catch our boat bound for Athens as  it was time to return home from our amazing trip. I learnt so much about Greek culture during the 5 days we spent exploring and as always I fell a little bit in love with every place I set foot. But I also learnt a lot about my own bravery, for The Very Nervous Traveller travelled for 5 day’s solid.   For more information on booking your 4 day idyllic cruise please visit the Celestyal Cruises & Aegean Airlines website. Ad Embarking on a journey of timeless treasures, my passion for antiquing began in the warmth of late summer 2019. When I discovered my father’s old boarding school tuck trunk nestled in the attic of their home. Since then, my weekends have unfolded like chapters in a novel, meandering through antiques emporiums and brocantes across the country.

Each trip unveils a tapestry of tales from bygone eras - from weathered pickling jars and vases to opulent French chandeliers and steamer trunks, and with each trip, I was captivated by the hidden secrets and untold histories woven into each artefact.

Everything feels a little more optimistic as March begins don’t you think?
It’s the start of spring in my book Evergreen shortly followed by the spring equinox so there’s ample time to prepare, nest and refresh.
The light returns, hello March 🌱

A little indulgence from my comfort of my own home thanks to INCREDIBLE @kmp_skin and @freshbeauty Ad
for the launch of the new Lotus Youth Preserve Resurfacing dream serum which is a gentle AHA serum with prickly pear flower extract said to boost radiance and it was so lovely to be treated to a first trial to get a very first impression of the serum thanks to KMP and her magic hands. I’ve literally never had a facial like it!
