island hopping pt. 2 – syros, greece

17th August 2015
We boarded our ship as it sat calmly on the Mediterranean water. This was my first time aboard a cruise ship. The ship was modest but welcoming in its decor, we would be spending such little time aboard as we hopped across the Greek Islands that it is all that was needed. After enjoying lunch aboard the ship we set sail for our next stop, Syros a beautiful island packed full of greek heritage. We meandered the white marble streets where bellowing bright pink blooms hung beautifully over boutique doorways, our guide took us around some of the most breath taking buildings and churches that still stood seemingly immaculate after many years. The attention to detail in Greek architecture from intricately tiled floors to painstakingly handcarved statues and columns meant with every look there was something new for our eyes to feast upon. Following our tour of the main town in Syros we sat down to dinner at a beautifully crisp white open air restaurant which felt like it was situated with in the sea, only separated by a wall which was constantly stroked by the waves as they broke. The food too came in waves and we enjoyed delicious local cuisine and produce until we could consume no more and finally returned to the boat for our first night on the water. Next stop – Cesme, Turkey.   For more information on booking your 4 day idyllic cruise please visit the Celestyal Cruises & Aegean Airlines website.   This post was shot on the Olympus PEN E-PL7 Kit & 45mm lens.
